Changes

I wasn't happy with the way this thing was looking,  it just looked like shitty ass.


Now...just less shitty.  Gives me something to work with tomorrow, can't wait.

My big ol' smelly dump for the day. Not bad since I also had to work my shit job today.

Also got some more progress on this peice, sadly there is more that I see wrong the more I do. The clouds, the color/expression in the main characters face and the two zombies on the ground are my projects for tomorrow. I so want this to be done by tomorrow night...IT MUST BE DONE!

A bit more! Some anatomy studies this morning then right into werk.

Still plugging along with it. All those studies have really sped up my work flow! Going to have this one done in record time!

Turkey Day

Hope everyone is having/had a great thanksgiving! I'm stuffed.  This is a sketch/color study for another yogscast fan art, this time of Lewis's character.

Turkey time! Haven't updated in a few days, did a little back sliding into a bit of a slump.  So, trying to pull out of it I forced myself to do some studies this morning, the color study is a quick one hour low light painting from life. Need to work more on my bigger strokes and blocking stuff in quickly!

I can't tell is these studies are getting better or worse. The color look more real but I feel like 2 hours isn't enough but it's hard to spend much longer on this sort of stuff!!!

Decided to stop on the master study after maybe 2 - 3 hours. Not really learning much after this point, just mindless rendering so I'm moving on. Also some lame anatomy drawings from this morning.

Started a master study this morning. Spent about an hour and a half on it so far. Planning on spending 5+ hours on this one. Love the colors and composition, the rocks! The rocks are amazing.  Hopefully more work to post by tonight.

Todays work!

Felt bad because I didn't do a study yesterday so I did two today. The first one of the bottle was a bit lame, didn't feel like I did enough on it, but the second of the orange is one I did later on in the day and got a ton more done with it.

Study Stuff from today. Still not happy with these still lifes, edge quality is lacking and the initial drawing for the image is flawed. I don't do a drawing first for these when I do them I just work totally in color shapes and keep refining. Not sure if it's helping work like that or not. I always have trouble with the ellipses, something to work on. As well as cloth, and just about everything else! Woohoo.

Got home from work, ate, started painting.  Another 2 hour study from life.  Not super happy with this one, edge quality is weird, need to try more brushes.

Todays work, redux

Some more daily work, studies and what not. I wish I could get a personal piece even half finished in a day like I can a still life, oh well. Not bed time yet, back to work!

Todays Studies

Here's some stuff I did today. 

I should have kept going on the figure studies this morning but stopped too soon, they were starting to look better towards the end.

Just some random head studies. I need to paint more men, different age ranges and different ethnicity more. Too many artists out there only painting young girl/women faces, no need to clog up the intarwebs with more of the same.  I did these rather than a still life, but was super distracted by walking dead and hell on wheels. Tomorrow I need to crack down more!

The elf girl is a paint over I did to help out a fellow artist, so it's not really 100% my idea. But I included it because it's 100% no ref and I feel like it's my most structurally sound face yet. All that's left of his original painting is some of the clothing around the chest/shoulder pads.  I think I pretty much painted the face from scratch in around an hour/hour and a half which is super fast for me.

Still on the apple kick from watching Crimson Daggers livestreams with Dan and Dave.

Not quite as happy with this one as the previous. The lighting was a lot dimmer and that thing on the right is supposed to be a bottle but I should have picked something that wasn't so smooth and clear.  Tomorrows should be more interesting!

Some Studies

Stuff I worked on today, some 1, 3, and 5 minute figure drawing, and a 1 and a half hour apple still life I did, the first in awhile. I'm happy with the results. Got a lot done today, amazing what giving up video games and TV can do.

Oh Nose!

Just some studies from this afternoon.  After watching some other artists studying and trying out stuff I decided to use a little egg timer while doing these. Giving myself 15 minutes each to get down what I could, I was trying to study noses, (need more practice) they suck but I feel like I painted more information and searched for structure faster and more efficient than jerking around with my brush like i always do with unlimited deadlines. 

Going to do more like this will different subjects. Push yourself to get faster.

Lost power here for 36 hours because of the snow,  breaking branches and all that fun crap.

Really screwed up my work scheduled! Here's some of the study stuff I've done over the past few days, I need to get more studies in!
